Off grid solar system is typically usedin no power areas such as remote mountain areas, islands, communication baseand other applications. The system is typically composed of PV array, solarcharge controller, battery group, off-grid inverter, DC load and AC load, etc.

Off-grid solar system uses solar panelsto convert solar energy into electricity when there is sunlight. It supplies powerto the load through solar charge controller, and charges the battery group atthe same time. In cloudy or rainy days, it supplies power to the DC loadthrough solar charge controller, at the same time, the battery also suppliespower to off-grid inverter and the current is converted to supply power to AC load.

Principle of solar power generation

There are two ways of solar powergeneration, one is “light to heat to electricity” conversion, the other is “lightelectricity” direct conversion.

The “light to heat to electricity”conversion mode uses heat energy generated by solar radiation to generateelectric power. Usually, the heat energy absorbed by solar heat collector isconverted into steam of work medium, and then the steam turbine is driven togenerate electric power. The former is optical thermal conversion process whilethe latter is thermal electrical conversion process.

The “light electricity” conversion modeis to use the photoelectric effect to convert the solar power into electric powerdirectly. The basic device of “light electricity” conversion mode is solarcell. Solar cell is a device that directly converts sun light energy intoelectric power due to photovoltaic effect. It is a semiconductor photodiode.When the sun shines on the photodiode, the photodiode will convert the sunlightenergy into electric power and generate current. When many cells are connectedin series or in parallel, solar cell arrays with relatively high power areformed.
